Dosoram Hermitage - Gochang (도솔암(고창))

Introduction Dosoram Hermitage, along with Seonunsa Temple, is thought to be built during the Beakje Era, 18 BC-AD 660. The temple is located inside of Seonunsa Temple on Dosolsan Mountain (Seonunsan Mountain) in Samin-ri, Asan-myeon, Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do. The area of the temple features a picturesque view formed by the rocky outcroppings that were created by volcanic activity. And, two yosa  where the Buddhist monks lives are attached to the temple, as well as Nahanjeon Hall, Cultural Property No. 110, and Dosolcheon Naewongung, Cultural Property No. 125, which is at the top of the stone staircase. Of note is the seated Buddha relief carving at Dongburam Hermitage Site of Seonunsa Temple (National Treasure No. 1200), with a height and width of 13 m and 3 m, respectively. It is carved into the face of a cliff called Chilsongda, which is located to the west of Dosoram Hermitage. Introduction Seolleongtang  is a Korean broth tang  (soup), made from ox bones (mostly leg bones), brisket and other cuts. Seasoning is generally done at the table according to personal taste by adding salt, ground black pepper, red pepper, minced garlic, or chopped spring onions. It is a local dish of Seoul. Seolleongtang  is typically simmered over a low flame over a period of several hours to an entire day, to allow the flavor to be gradually extracted from the bones. It has a milky off-white, cloudy appearance and is normally eaten together with rice and several side dishes; the rice is sometimes added directly to the soup. History and Etymology In the Joseon dynasty, Koreans regularly made nationwide sacrifies to their ancestors, such as Dangun  (the legendary founder of the kingdom of Gojoseon). Introduction SIDance was created by Seoul Section of the International Dance Counsil CID UNESCO in 1998 as a proper channel for introducing Korean dance to international stages as well as worldwide trends to the local dance scene. Korean dance had experienced a severe lack of international exchenges, but that has been surmounted, to a certain degree, since the formation of the Seoul Section of the International Dance Council CID-UNESCO in 1996. SIDance stands out among its various activities to promote Korean dance. SIDance, led by LEE, Jong-Ho, the artistic director, has since grown into a dance festival at the international level, marking its 18th anniversary in 2015.
